Halloween Party Prep – The good the bad and the frightful!

27 Oct

There is a lot of tat out there on the shelves for this Halloween. Parties are getting bigger and better, we have more and more americanized with our love of the holiday! i thought that I would share with you some of the best products out there this year, to avoid disappointment!

Zombie Gnome

The Zombie Gnome is one of my absolute favourites this year, a must have for on the lawn or table at a halloween themed party. it is as hilarious as it is genius, and at £11.95 from Genie Gadget it will not break the bank either. At 30 cm tall and very sturdy I think I will keep mine out all year!

Grr!

DIY Halloween

I love the mouldable glue range from Sugru – perfect for any Halloween projects. It’s bendy, rubbery texture makes it a versatile material and once it cures for 24 hours it is really strong too.

Halloween Make up

If you are on a budget, don’t buy separate pots of face paint this Halloween look for an all in one kit. Asda have a great range this year, I love the skelaton kit for £3. I actually used this and some old green eyeshadow that I had lying around to make my wicked witch face this year!

Finishing touches for Halloween Costumes

24 Oct

Last year I reviewed some freaky contact lenses from ColourYourEyes.com and loved them so much that I have bought them again this year.  I think that the scariest part of going all out with a costume like this is when you turn to look in the mirror and truly don’t recognise yourself! If you can freak out your friends just by staring at them – your Halloween mission is accomplished! Say no to slutty halloween costumes, scary is way more fun. The lenses were also very comfortable to wear, although I must say with the fake eyelashes too my eyes just felt very heavy! I perked up with a cocktail or two however. Lenses start from £8.99 and if you are going to multiple parties splash out a tenner for ones that last a little longer and can be reused time and time again.

Halloween Interiors

15 Oct

Halloween does not have to happen but once a year, with wallpapers from Graham & Brown you can decorate your house in a gothic look all year around. My suggestion would also be to actually make your own spooky decorations using the wallpaper. Ideas are:

  • Spooky table runner (see here)
  • Backdrop: either use a poster hanger ot two canes of wood to hang the perfect backdrop onto your wall. If you don’t care about little holes, you can even use pins/wall tacs.
  • Door hanger: for the best effect hang over so it covers both sides of the door
  • Spooky rug: note this only works on linoleum floors, where you can stick down with blu tack or double sided tape!

I have tested out the skull wallpaper, it is covered in velvet, and the only word to describe it is… sumptuous. Though, at £55 a roll, it would have to be! The website does list some of their designs in a sale at £10 however they are not as spooky as the skulls or cobwebs that I would choose.
